This backyard transformation began with an existing pergola that was thoughtfully enclosed to create a safe and enriching outdoor space for Zooey, a rescued cat with a heartwarming story. She was found as a stray and, after having kittens, was lovingly adopted by her current owners, who found homes for her babies but kept her as part of their family.
Design Features
Enclosure using the existing pergola: The original structure was stained with Timber Pro UV in Madrone, giving it a natural look that blends beautifully with the backyard.
Cat access from the basement: Zooey enters the catio through a pet door installed on the basement window, providing her with easy outdoor access whenever she pleases.
Sliding roof panels: Adjustable panels allow the homeowners to care for their climbing wisteria without removing any parts of the enclosure.
